It’s well known just how sweltering hot those Utah summers can feel, especially with the sun beaming down most of the time.

As much as this is in benefit of a beautiful summer from the sunny skies, there’s no doubt that many get tired of the scorching hot weather as they try to enjoy a nice day out doing summer activities with family and friends.

This doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of amazing, exciting activities to take part in that will give you a break from the sun and allow you to cool off from the desert heat.

We’ve listed just a few of many great options for excitement to do with the entire family when you just want something fun, but cool.

Cool Off With Utah Lakes And Beaches

This may seem counterproductive to staying out of the Utah sun, however it gives you the chance to still enjoy the gorgeous weather as you fight off the heat with a large body of water at your convenience to jump into whenever you need.

This also gives you a great opportunity to experience the remarkable beaches and lakes Utah has to offer – something that usually wouldn't be the first thing on a local resident’s mind.

Southern Utah in particular has both exceptional beaches and lakes, perfect for cooling off from the sun.

Take the incredible Sand Hollow State Park, which is right outside of St. George. A popular recreational reservoir lake in St. George, this stunning area is encompassed by orange red sands with breathtaking mountains for a backdrop.

Bear Lake State Park Beach is also a widely popular spot for Utah residents. A massive, 20 mile long lake, this is a great place that is worth the drive for the many beaches that line its gorgeous shores.

A Step Away From Beaches - Water Parks

Now, for those looking for the ultimate getaway from the burning Utah summer heat, however, who may still want to feel the refreshing touch of water, water parks are simply the perfect solution.

Not only are water parks a great choice for getting away from the heat, they’re also great for taking the kids out on an exciting adventure.

Indoor parks like Sand Hollow Aquatic Center are great for a smaller escape both in the summer and winter.

Whereas parks like St. George Splash Pad is outdoors with many rides, amusements, and attractions to keep the entire family entertained.

The Thunder Junction All Abilities Park is another amazing park with accessibility in mind. With a train ride and several playgrounds, and complete wheelchair accessible equipment, this is a popular park.

Go, Go, Go Karting

Another fantastic activity that will simply be a hit with the entire family that one may not normally think of is go karting.

Consider the excitement and adrenaline in a cool, indoor racetrack as you race the kids for a couple of hours of go karting fun. Plus, a little competition is always a great way to distract yourself from the hot weather.

Centers like the Fiesta Family Fun Center are great for countless indoor activities including go-karting, laser tag, an arcade, mini-golf, and much more.
