The Last Few Weeks of Summer - Activities for Kids

Summertime is one of the best times to be in St. George. There is so much to do, especially for the kids in town. Take advantage of all there is to do this summer before school starts up again in a few weeks!

Sand Hollow Aquatic Center

Looking for a place to cool off from the heat and enjoy some pool time? Sand Hollow Aquatic Center has been a favorite local spot for years and it is the place to go. This very affordable aquatic center has a diving pool as well as a leisure pool. The leisure pool has interactive children’s water toys, a water walk, and water slide. There are ropes to climb, shallow pools, decorative water features, and more. Sand Hollow also offers children’s swimming lessons.

Thunder Junction All Abilities Park

This dinosaur themed park is the place for kids of all ages to explore, play, and use their imaginations. The park includes wheelchair accessible playground equipment, a volcano, climbing wall, playground, picnic areas, and a splash pad with a rock waterfall. There is durable soft-surfacing cover on top of the ground to make accessibility easier for those in wheelchairs. The park’s main attraction is the 1/4-scale train on a 2,700-foot track that winds around the park. With Jurassic life and fossils decorating the park, Thunder Junction is the perfect place to help feed a child’s imagination during the summertime.

St. George Recreation Center

The St. George Recreation Center offers plenty of classes and activities for kids and is a great place to make memories as a family. Some of the classes they provide for kids are karate, ballet, lawn bowling, pottery classes, and tumbling. They also offer a number of outdoor recreation classes as well. There is always the option to take your children to the childcare center while you take some classes for yourself as well.

Movie in the Park

When the weather starts to cool down in the evening, it is the perfect time to watch an outdoor movie. Every 2nd and 4th Friday night this summer the St. George Town Square becomes an outdoor movie theater. At dusk, they’ll play movies for both children and adults to watch underneath the stars. The movies on the schedule for the rest of the summer are Here Comes the Boom on August 11 and Top Gun Maverick on August 25. All you need to do is bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks and you’re all set to have a family friendly movie night on a St. George summer night.

Southern Utah offers the best of the best, especially for your children. Don’t miss the nice summer weather and take your kids to these exciting activities in St. George, Utah. Make memories that will last for many more summers to come!
