I was driving on Red Cliffs Drive the other day and a heart in a window caught my attention.  It was a bright red heart and it said Waffle Love.  I decided to give the small restaurant, in St. George, a try today.  When you walk into the place you immediately are met with the delicious smell of waffles.  Recently we tried chicken and waffles in Las Vegas and we were excited to see that was on the menu.

The menu offers numerous specialty waffles, such as:

  • The Churro Waffle with cinnamon and sugar
  • The Cinna Love with cinnamon butter and cream cheese frosting
  • The Red Wonder with biscoff, strawberries, raspberries and cream
  • Nutella Love with Nutella, cream and your choice of fruit
  • Banana Cream Pie with chocolate, bananas and cream

I have been visiting St. George for a few decades.  I recently purchased a new home and now I live here.  I have never been to the Black Bear Diner until now.  There are numerous locations all over the western United States, but the restaurant here in St. George is the only one in Southern Utah.  I saw several families waiting to eat at this restaurant and decided to try the place out.  I was not disappointed.

The restaurant offers several menus:

  •          Breakfast
  •          Lunch
  •          Dinner
  •          Dessert
  •          Cubs (Children’s Menu)

We visited the restaurant for an early dinner and the place was not too crowded.  They offer huge portions of things like chicken fried steak, wild Alaska salmon, chicken…

I loved eating at the Anasazi Steakhouse in St. George!  It was a totally unique experience for me to cook my own steak on a lava rock.  Anasazi Steakhouse uses volcanic rocks that are heated in a special oven for 6-8 hours.  The website talks about how the idea of using stones for cooking is not new…it goes back to 18,000 B.C.  The stones have a natural ability to retain and radiate heat that makes them an ideal cooking source.  I cooked my own steak to perfection on my own rock.  It was delicious!  I also tasted chicken, shrimp and scallops that members of my family had cooked on their own stones.  They were wonderful too!  The menu offers steak, pork chops, lamb, ostrich medallions, buffalo, shrimp, scallops, tuna, salmon, swordfish, mahi mahi,…
