Museums to Visit in St. George, Utah

St. George, Utah is a historic place with many stories to tell. There is so much to see and learn within the red rock mountains of Southern Utah. There are a number of innovative and interesting museums to visit as well. Museums filled with nature, art, artifacts - there’s no limit to what you can observe and explore. Check out our list of some of the most notable museums in town.

St. George Art Museum

The St. George Art Museum showcases various art pieces of locals as well as famous works from national and international artists. Located in historic St. George, in the downtown area of town, you can visit this fascinating and inspiring museum. You can see the galleries and exhibits of art from every culture and time period. A day at the St. George Art Museum can both educate and entertain you. It is currently closed for renovation, but will reopen on March 24, 2023, so make your visit as soon as they reopen!

Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum

Looking for a museum that is fun for the whole family? Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum, Southern Utah’s largest collection of  taxidermy Wildlife exhibits, is the perfect place to teach your little ones about the wonders of nature, while enjoying the exhibits yourself. At this museum you feel like you are really in the middle of various wildlife environments such as, the rainforest, savannah, forest, mountains, and more! As you follow the path, you can see nature’s most popular animals very closely. If you can’t get enough of the captivating wildlife, you can also visit the gift shop and take your very own animal souvenirs home. It’s one of the best places in town to visit with the family, so plan your visit now!

Sears Art Museum

The Sears Art Museum is located on the UTU campus which can give you the opportunity to not only view aesthetic and creative art pieces, but you visit and explore the University as well. This museum has multiple art showcases scheduled throughout the year, so don’t forget to check their calendar to find the best art shows for you. This exhibit has art pieces from students including locals and other artists. You can find the Sears Art Museum showcases in the same building as the UTU stages, so you can catch a play or show while you’re at it!

Arrowhead Gallery

Located in the heart of downtown St. George is the Arrowhead co-op gallery where over 30 local artists from all mediums showcase their work. You can have the opportunity to meet the artists and view their diverse and high quality art pieces. This gallery is close to many other places worth visiting in downtown St. George. After you view the beautiful art, you can visit various restaurants and shops close by. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss.

St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site

Last, but not least on our list is St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site. When you visit you can see thousands of fossilized dinosaur footprints that date back to 200 million years ago! You can see fossils of the Scelidosaurus which is the only one of its kind in the North Americas. You can also view the fossil prep lab and various replicas of prehistoric animals. Can’t get enough of the Jurassic fun? There’s an outdoor Dino Park where you can walk around, view the fossils, and maybe even plan a picnic. There’s so much to do and explore at this discovery site!
