Summer is right around the corner and the perfect time to start thinking about sprucing up your interior design. You won't only love it, but keeping your decor up to date can increase the value of your home as well.

Navy Blue Invasion

Navy blue is the accent color of the summer. You can start by incorporating accessories like throw pillows, blankets, curtains or rugs. Alternatively, you can paint navy blue onto an accent wall to really make it pop. Navy has the benefit of being a trendy color with a classic feel. You can make subtle shifts in your current design or make a navy blue statement, whichever you choose.

Feeling the Faux

While marble and granite have long been considered the optimal materials for a sleek and updated look, they're expensive. Luckily, this summer is seeing the rise of faux materials that provide the same look at a fraction of the cost. If the look you're going for feels outside your price range, look at the faux alternatives. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you can afford.

Snow White Everywhere

White is another color that is in this summer. Brighten up your bedroom with all white bedding and add white throw pillows, rugs and curtains. When doing white on white, use different shades to add some depth to the space. An off white throw blanket on top of a bright white comforter can give you the perfect look.

Finish it With Some Bronze

Bronze and copper finishes are the accent look of the season. Swap out your kitchen cabinet handles and drawer pulls with copper or bronze ones. You can also swap out your stainless steel bathroom faucets and towel racks for the warmer tones. Incorporate copper pots, accent pieces and light fixtures into your design as well.

Artisanal Accents

"Do it yourself”craft decor is on its way out and being replaced with artisanal decorations. Summer is the perfect time to check out art shows and look for one-of-a-kind accessories to incorporate in your home. Look for vases, ceramics, paintings or other art pieces that speak to you and fit your home’s style.

Use the changing of the seasons to make some changes in your home decor. Shake off the cold of winter and welcome the warmth with these design ideas.
