Bloomington Golf Course
Built in 1969, the Bloomington Country Club was the second course built in southern Utah and the first private country club. The course was designed utilizing a concept that is found with increasing rarity in modern-day courses—pure Bermuda grass on wide, gently sloping fairways . “This course is one of the most walkable and playable courses in southern Utah,” says Scott Brandt, Bloomington Country Club’s Head Golf Professional. “Lots of folks walk this course comfortably.”
Nearly two hundred acres are devoted to the course itself and homes along the course are set far off the fairways giving golfers the chance to enjoy a luxury of space not found in many of today’s course developments.
Course care is meticulous starting with its hallmark greens. Known for its extremely smooth bent grass greens, Brandt adds that the over-seeding of the fairways each fall keeps them very green throughout the winter.
Designed by Bill Neff, golfers will find a course that plays reasonably long without a lot of forced carries. According to Brandt, the four Par 3’s are some of the more challenging and rewarding on the course. “Our Par 3’s are the strength of the golf course. They’re terrific holes and present great, playable challenges,” he says.
The Bloomington Country Club maintains reciprocal play privileges for members of other clubs throughout the nation on a space-availability basis.
