Pine Valley, about 35 miles north of St. George, is a picturesque community with uncharacteristic green pine trees and meadows. This is a favorite place for Southern Utahns to visit since it is so green and unlike the desert landscape of the rest of the region.
Because of its unique look and feel, real estate in Pine Valley differs architecturally from a lot of the surrounding Utah areas. Homes here are built in more cabin-like styles, with tall, sloped roofs, and either vinyl siding, logs, or stone as an exterior material.

There also tend to be quite long driveways, as homes are often situated back from the road. Properties also tend to be older, but they have remained rather timeless because of the historic nature of the town.

Pine Valley Recreation
In the midst of the St. George, Utah area’s more famous red rock scenery, the fact that a picturesque alpine landscape is not far away is lost on some St. George visitors. The Pine Valley Mountains tower over St. George’s northeastern horizon and are full of trails and recreation opportunities. However, most visitors bypass them in favor of visiting popular places such as Zion National Park and Snow Canyon State Park.
The most popular point of access to the Pine Valley Mountains is from the town of Pine Valley itself, a place popular for second-home owners. Near Pine Valley, you will find Pine Valley Reservoir, a campground and trailheads, including the beginning of Signal Peak Trail. Another access point to Pine Valley recreation is the Oak Grove Campground, approximately 8 miles north of Leeds, Utah.
