More broadly, Desert Color, along with St. George and surrounding communities, are located in a large basin between various mountain ranges and parks, including West Mountain peak to the west, Signal Peak to the north, the peaks of Zion National Park to the east, and Mt. Bangs in Arizona to the south.

Desert Color will include many integrated amenities for enjoying the beautiful weather and stunning mountain views. The many resort facilities will overlook scenic lakes and park areas, and the tree-lined streets will give the impression of a garden city in the desert.
The large St. George City Park at the south end of the community will include sports facilities, and the eastern portion of the community will have a school.
There will be a total of 5 planned lagoons for Desert Color, providing opportunities for water activities and recreation.
At the northern end of Desert Color there will be a golfing complex, and the various resort and community centers across Desert Color will offer year-round events, classes, clubs, and facilities for fun in the sun.
The broader area around Desert Color has much to offer as well, from large parks and nature areas like Beaver Dam Wash National Conservation Area, Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, and the famous Zion National Park, to the many attractions in and around St. George, like golf clubs, parks, restaurants, stores, and Dixie State University.
