Golfing At Green Spring
This course, designed by renowned architect Gene Bates now of CouplesBates Golf Design, offers what Green Springs PGA Pro Nick Neeley describes as some of the toughest stretches of holes in the country. This eighteen-hole, par 72 course, says Neeley, “requires players to use every club in the bag.”
Golfers on this championship course will enjoy several scenic features at close range. The ten-thousand foot Pine Valley Mountain towers in Green Spring’s foreground and is typically laced with snow until late spring.
From the reflection of early morning’s changing lights, to cloudscapes snagged on her jagged peaks, Pine Valley offers spectacular sky scenes throughout the day. Players can absorb the height of Pine Valley’s daily drama from hole number five which hits directly toward the mountain.
Another environmental feature found at Green Spring provided the inspiration for the course’s name. A natural spring bubbles up between holes fifteen and sixteen and creates ponds on holes ten, eleven, and fifteen.
When the warm water coming up from the naturally heated spring meets up with a winter morning’s cool air, a maze of mists provide the course with an extra layer of beauty and golfers with an extra layer of challenge.
